Livingston County
Chamber of Commerce is an association of over 500 businesses in
and around Livingston County. The Chamber has a staff of six, a
board of directors of 25, and a committee structure of about 12
work groups, task forces, and special projects. Several work groups
are connected with other agencies such as the Job Service Employer
Committee, Small Business Development Center at SUNY Geneseo, and
Livingston County Job Fair. Together we work to achieve our mission:
Promoting business development and the quality of life in Livingston
County.
Chamber members
are kept up to date on events and activities within the organization
through our monthly newsletter, The Chambergram. Twice a year, the
Chamber publishes the Chamber Community Report, a free newspaper
distributed to every home and business in the County. Chamber business
members are eligible to advertise in Chamber-sponsored publications.
Many Chamber
programs have been in place since the early days of the organization.
However, the Chamber takes pride in conceptualizing new programs
to meet the changing needs of the business community. One example
is our newest program - Leadership Livingston. This leadership development
initiative is identifying emerging leaders in the community and
providing these leaders with exposure to the issues and concerns
of the community. The sessions take place throughout the community
and are designed to explore our assets, our challenges, and our
opportunities.
