The German Federal Government has agreed to fund the development of a centre for nanotechnology in Wurzburg, Germany. This new research institution will be built on the university campus Am Hubland and will create a total of about 100 jobs for scientists, technicians and administration staff.

Nanotechnology deals with the production of the tiniest structures for electronic and photonic components. It is key technology for future developments in the fields of sciences and engineering and offers a wide range of application potentials, from nano-electronics for future computer generations to nano-particles used in energy technology and micro-sensors and to possible applications in biomedicine.
